i'm contractually obligated by carly to let you know when she does something good - today she once again proved herself to be the most welcoming colella...

welcoming committee

if i were so inclined i could write a blog entitled “what carly did wrong” and literally have enough material to post daily. i’d use this photo as the banner… having said that i feel i should also tell you that i adore the bejinkles out of her…as bad as she is she is exactly equally as fantastic. among her two most redeeming qualities are she’s about the sweetest thing going on four legs and she is the most amazing welcome wagon president our family could have. this is some footage of slater’s...

the wrath of grapes

by | Thursday, December 22, 2011 |

tuesday was not a good day and it turned into an even worse 48 hours.  i did a moronic thing and left some just washed grapes in the sink to dry…and let the dogs in and forgot about the grapes.  cue doom music, enter carly.  i came into the kitchen a short time later to find carly standing over some little tell-tale water marks on the floor, saw a few chewed stems and at first thought “oh carly” and then “oooh carly” (which doesn’t look ...

indian summer

you know those minor annoyances you have in your life that you keep living with day after day even though there quite possibly may be a very easy fix?  i’m (almost) embarrassed to point out this issue that dave & i have been living with for who knows how long.  i don’t want to think about the time and money we’ve frittered away on this ridiculously easy to fix issue brought to us single-handedly by none other than carly.   when we redid our bathroom a...

violet's blooming

by | Thursday, September 2, 2010 |

violet had her surgery and yesterday she had her 3-week follow-up where we found out that while she’s healing well she will definitely not have a fully functional leg, although it could prove helpful for balance and some other leg-centric activities. the biggest issue is that violet seems to have written the leg off completely – won’t use it, won’t look at it, won’t have nothing to do with it, to the point that she many times lets it drag behind her and the sores and ground-down nails that...
