for the last two years we've been in a battle with wilson's immune mediated disease and the last year has been spent in a desperate effort to retain as much of wil's eyesight as we possibly could once his disease manifested in optic neuritis. we apparently lost the battle this week as wilson's world has gone black - we've got him on a huge dose of prednisone as a last ditch effort to get back the little sight he had but at this moment it's not looking good. wilson has the spirit of a dog...

one of the components of our bed stuffing is a recycled poly-cotton that is delivered to us in a very tightly bound 700-lb block of hell. in the old days dave and i would single-handedly have to figure out how to maneuver this fat chunk thing into a very small hallway where we actually stuffed the beds. fortunately that is no longer the case and neither one of us suffered any hernias. the bed stuffing now takes place in a separate building and the block of “fuzz”...

carly’s been here for almost 3 weeks and she’s fantabulous!! she, probably more than anyone else, came in quite easily and it’s as if she’s always been here, although it’s a tad bit noisier. she’s an 80-lb, 7-month-old, gangly, uncoordinated goofball who seems to be relishing her freedom from a cage. she fell fast in love with speck and flanagan, although together they don’t match her energy level. thankfully with very careful supervision she’s only destroyed a few things and peed inside only 2...
